Summary

Any creative studio can install AI tools today. The difference is what it brings to the table: judgment, process and accountability for the result. In this article we explain, in our own words, how Karnaf Studio, active since 2003, combines more than two decades of experience with AI: what has changed for us, what has stayed exactly the same, and what it looks like from the client's side.

Clients come to us with a new question these days. They used to ask, "Can you design our logo?" or "Can you build our website?" Now they also ask, "Do you work with AI?" and sometimes, without saying it out loud, "Why do I need a studio at all if there's AI?"

It's a fair question, and it deserves a direct answer. A creative studio isn't measured by its tools, because the tools are available to everyone. It's measured by the decisions it knows how to make, the mistakes it knows how to prevent, and its ability to take responsibility for the outcome from start to finish. We built that over many years, and we added AI on top of that foundation.

Who we are

Karnaf Studio has been active since 2003. It is owned by Chen-Haim Bachar, who holds a degree in computer science and a degree in visual communication, is a senior lecturer at Avni College in Israel, and serves on the board of the Israeli Graphic Designers Association. That combination of design and technology, of practice and teaching, has shaped the studio from day one, and it largely explains why working with AI felt like a natural step for us rather than a revolution.

We describe ourselves as a ONE STOP STUDIO: one place that holds everything a brand needs, from strategy and visual identity to digital presence and automation systems.

What hasn't changed in twenty years

  • Listening before designing. Every project starts with understanding the business, the audience and the goals. No tool does that for us.
  • Human accountability for every deliverable. Everything that leaves the studio is reviewed and approved by people.
  • Precision. In design, small details matter: letter spacing, a shade, the proportion between elements. A trained eye is still the most important tool.
  • Long-term relationships. We don't design a brand and disappear; we stay with it as it grows.
  • Transparency. Clients know what we're doing, how, and with which tools.

What has changed: AI across the studio

AI didn't arrive as a separate department. It entered every discipline, and each found its own use for it.

Branding and design. We use AI to explore color, material and mood directions quickly, and to test a visual language on applications before production. The marks themselves, the logos and the typography, are built by designers. In mockups, logos and copy are composited from source files, and conceptual visuals are labeled as such. Our branding portfolio shows the visual language we bring to each brand.

Video and animation. Here AI opened possibilities that didn't exist before. WEST ALABAMA, for example, is a video created entirely with AI from architectural renderings, and "WELCOME TO GREENFIELDS" is an AI video as well. Both appear in our video gallery, alongside corporate films, animation and shorts.

Automation and AI agents. Our youngest discipline, and the one where the computer-science background shows most directly. We build automation systems and AI agent workflows, chatbots and WhatsApp automations that reduce manual work and connect systems.

A brand we built for ourselves. When we launched our automation services, we did for ourselves what we do for clients: full branding. The clips "Karnaf Automations AI" and "KARNAF AI", and the project "Karnaf AI – branding in the service of automation", are how we introduced the new discipline. It was also a lab: a way to test tools, processes and limits on ourselves before offering them to clients.

How we evaluate AI tools

New tools appear at a fast pace, and not every impressive demo suits professional work. Before a tool enters a client project, we ask: Does it improve the result, or just shorten the path? What happens to the files we upload, and what do the terms of use say? Can we control the output enough to keep color, proportion and consistency on-brand? And who is responsible for reviewing what it produces?

What a project looks like from the client's side

  1. One team, one picture. Even when a project spans branding, a website, a video and automation, there's one vision and one language. That's the value of a one-stop studio.
  2. The right tool for each task. Sometimes AI, sometimes a pencil, sometimes real photography. A professional decision, not a fashionable one.
  3. Directions before investment. With AI, clients see directions and visualizations earlier and take part in decisions before full production.
  4. A handover you can work with. Files, brand guidelines, templates and systems your own team can run.

What teaching teaches us

Years of teaching alongside studio work build a habit: explaining why. Students don't accept "it just looks good", and they're right. We bring the same habit to clients. When we recommend a direction, we explain the reasoning. When we use AI, we explain where and why.

Pros and limitations of our approach

What clients gain: long experience that spots mistakes AI tools miss; the speed and flexibility of new tools without giving up control; one address for branding, design, websites, video and automation.

What to know: we're not a factory for instant output, since good work still needs conversation, thought and approvals; not everything suits AI, and sometimes we'll recommend the classic route; and we don't promise what can't be promised, such as search rankings.

FAQ

Do you use AI in every project? Not necessarily. We use it when it improves the result or the process, and we always tell the client.

What services do you offer? Branding, brand books, graphic and packaging design, websites and UX/UI, apps, corporate films, animation and shorts, advertising, illustration, automation and AI agent systems, chatbots, WhatsApp automation, online stores, product photography, SEO, social media and PPC.

In summary

A good creative studio in the AI era isn't the one with the most tools; it's the one that knows when to use them and when not to. Karnaf Studio combines more than 20 years of design and branding experience, a background in computer science and visual communication, and daily work with AI tools. The goal is the same as it was in 2003: brands that look excellent and work.
